My name is Liesl Babicka and I am a current freshman at Arizona State University in the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communications. I graduated from Gilbert High School in Gilbert, AZ. My entire life consisted of club soccer for Arizona Arsenal Soccer Club. I lettered all four years on the Women’s Varsity Soccer Team for Gilbert High School. My soccer career has ended and continue my love for sports at Arizona State as a sports reporter.
My adventures have included being an Intermission Reporter for the Men’s ACHA D1 Arizona State Hockey Team and being a part of Walter Cronkite Sports Network lacrosse coverage team for ASU Men’s Club Lacrosse. And I also star in a podcast for The Bardown Hockey Show along with two of my fellow friends. My dream is to some day become a reporter for a NHL hockey team. I plan on graduating Arizona State with a major in Sports Journalism and minor in Special Event Planning and Tourism.
I also work as a Downtown Phoenix Devils’ Advocate for Arizona State. As an advocate I provide tours to school groups and students interested in attending Arizona State at the Downtown Phoenix campus. Not only do I work for them, but I am a Cronkite Ambassador for the Cronkite School. We mentor freshmen, work with freshmen orientation, give tours of the Cronkite School and hold a number of events provided by Cronkite.
As of the fall of 2017 I will be continuing my work as I was announced one of the beat reporters for the ASU Women’s Soccer team for Walter Cronkite Sports Network. I also have the honor of being a part of the first coverage team for the ASU Women’s Club Hockey team for Walter Cronkite Sports Network.
